Having entered the foster care system at the age of 15 and remaining in it until she aged out at 21 in Missouri, she carries lived experience that fuels her passion for making a difference. Amber’s heart is especially dedicated to supporting youth in foster care, helping them realize that despite the difficulties and obstacles they face, they are capable of creating a hopeful and successful future.
Her belief in the mission of Luxuriluxe is deeply personal. Having once lacked access to basic necessities, she understands firsthand the emotional and practical challenges foster children encounter. Amber vividly recalls the impact of receiving her very first piece of luggage while still in foster care—a gesture that gave her not only dignity but also a sense of belonging and hope. Today, she channels that experience into her work with Luxuriluxe, advocating for programs and initiatives that empower young people to see their worth, embrace opportunity, and build brighter futures.
Susan O’Connell
Susan O’Connell, a proud West Tennessee native, brings both professional expertise and personal warmth to the board of Luxuriluxe. She pursued her studies at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and went on to build a remarkable career in sales. Her experience spans across the pharmaceutical and technology sectors, and today she thrives as the Growth Director for LBMC’s healthcare practice, where she continues to drive innovation and expansion.
Beyond her professional life, Susan treasures her role as a wife and mother. Married for 26 years, she and her husband have raised two children who reflect her values of dedication and perseverance. Her daughter, a Clemson graduate, now lives and works in Nashville, while her son is currently a junior at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Susan’s ability to balance a successful career with a fulfilling family life reflects her commitment to excellence, both personally and professionally.
As a board member of Luxuriluxe, Susan brings her leadership skills, business acumen, and compassionate perspective. She is passionate about contributing to initiatives that uplift others, ensuring that Luxuriluxe continues to expand its positive impact and inspire hope in every community it touches.
Chad Powers
Chad Powers was born and raised in Middle Tennessee, where the values of community, resilience, and service became part of his foundation. After completing his undergraduate studies at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, Chad returned to his hometown of Nashville. There, he met his wife Birdie, and together they built a family life centered around faith, dedication, and compassion.
Chad’s professional journey reflects his versatility and commitment to growth. He first worked in finance and later explored the music industry before deciding to pursue law. After graduating from law school, he clerked for a local judge, gained valuable experience at a small law firm, and eventually advanced to his current role as Chief Legal Officer at a Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management company. His career path demonstrates both his adaptability and his determination to serve others with integrity.
At home, Chad and Birdie are the proud parents of two teenage daughters, ages 17 and 15. Their family is deeply engaged with their local community through Fellowship Bible Church in Brentwood, Tennessee, where they actively contribute to church life and outreach programs.
Chad’s passion for Luxuriluxe’s mission is deeply personal. Having supported close friends through foster care experiences, he has witnessed both the challenges and the importance of giving children in the system dignity, stability, and hope. He is committed to ensuring that every child touched by Luxuriluxe’s work feels valued, respected, and given the opportunities they deserve to thrive.
